The Dent County Commission met 9 a.m. Monday at the Dent County Courthouse. The group met with MoDOT Central District Area Engineer Preston Kramer, Meremac Regional Planning Commission (MRPC) executive director Bonnie Prigge, Transportation Advisory Council member Gary Brown and temporary city administrator of Salem Sally Burbridge. Together, they discussed transportation priorities in Dent County.
Some of the highest priority items included the Crooked Creek bridge, the bridge over the West Fork of the Huzzah in Boss, shoulder realignment to address the dangerous curve, and the intersection of Roosevelt St. and Hwy. 19 in Salem as well as many other items including addressing inadequate sidewalks for pedestrian traffic in town and more.
District One Commissioner Wes Mobray reported that he has a crew grading county roads 4100, 4090 and 6505, cutting brush on 4150 and 4155, and hauling rock to 4100, as well as removing a tree leaning over through on 5550 in Bunker and putting blades on the newly leased grader.
District Two Commission Gary Larson reported that he has a crew hauling material to, grading and installing a culvert on 3150, cutting brush on 6150 and 6160, and man retrieving oil from Springfield for chip and seal.
The commission also agreed 3-0 to write a letter of support for Steelville Telephone Exchange to expand broadband coverage in Dent County.
Thursday, the commission opened sealed bids for a loan to pay for new road grader—bids were as follows: Bank of Salem at 5.49%, Progressive Ozark Bank at 4.99% plus $100 fee, and Town & Country at 4.25%. No decision was made.
